This blog is all about mine and my family's journey following the food philosophy in the book "Trim Healthy Mama". I read the book in June 2013 and started following it's principles shortly thereafter. After having two babies in 17 months, I found myself 50 lbs overweight. Limiting my food intake and working out six days a week for 6 months, I only managed to get rid of 20lbs. That extra 30lbs wasn't budging, no matter what I did. I felt like I was trapped in my "post-partum body".
I had always had a pretty fast metabolism and slender figure my whole life. This was a new challenge for me. One that I can now say I am glad to have had. Gaining weight easily is actually a blessing in a way, it's one of the body's very telling ways of saying "I'm unhealthy - DO SOMETHING!".
In the first week of following THM loosely, I lost six pounds of that stubborn weight. I knew I was onto something. Now don't get too excited, this is not a quick fix, lose 30 pounds in 30 days kind of gimmick, this is a plan for life. It took me another 6 months to shed the rest of the weight - that;s right, the healthy way, one pound at a time, slowly - and might I add deliciously!
Since starting on THM, and having my husband and kids follow along shortly after, I have never felt deprived. I have never been fuller, happier or more satisfied with my diet than any other time in my life.
My husband and I love to be in the kitchen - me a trained pastry chef and him very skilled on the savory side of things. Our kitchen is almost always occupied and the dishes never seem to end, but we are Trim, Healthy and very happy! I hope my blog posts will inspire you to look into Trim Healthy Mama.
